What is MFT?

In this article, we will see in broad terms what MFT consists of. What is it about ? But also, why is it necessary for any type of organization, both public and private.

First of all, it is important to define the acronym MFT. Two similar interpretations are possible: Managed File Transfer or Monitored File Transfer. In French, the most appropriate translation would be: Monitored File Transfers.

More concretely, what is it about? The transfer of monitored files is managed by a software suite allowing organizations to carry out various file exchanges, within an IS (Information System), internally or externally to an organization. These exchanges must be fast, efficient, stable, reliable and very secure. Indeed, some data being confidential, it should not land in the hands of just anyone.

Everything is done to ensure that the exchanges are successful and:

  • that the files are intact,

  • that the data is not lost or stolen,

  • that these transfers take place in a minimum of time.

A good MFT solution must be able to handle the transfer of numerous files simultaneously and/or large files.

Why is it necessary, even fundamental, for an organization to have this type of platform?

“Data exchange solutions will continue to be in demand because no business is an island and business networks continue to expand, demanding qualities of service that only specialized software can provide. »

Stewart Bond, Director of Integration Software Research
